Get to know the Commercial Team

Welcome to the first post of our “Meet The Team!” Series. Kicking the series off are Marcus and HongYang from the Commercial Team.
The Commercial Team duo has the challenging task of scaling our business. Their job involves them working closely and engaging with our different stakeholders including investors, government agencies, and feed manufacturers. They are agile with excellent leadership qualities amongst other key skills.
Let us first introduce you to Marcus, our Head of Commercial.

Q: What is the most interesting or impactful project that you have worked on and why Marcus: Building up the commercial team from scratch. What is more fun than starting something from nothing?
Q: What are your personal or professional goals for the future? Marcus: To understand the value chain of the industry and to build the commercial team to be an effective and cohesive team.
Q: If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be? Marcus: Definitely a master Guzheng Player.
Hello guys, I am HongYang!
Q: What is the most interesting or impactful project that you have worked on and why? Hong Yang: I would say designing the educational course for the public. This involves finding out the bureaucracy of what it takes to be Skills Future certified, to physically going down to our facility in Tuas to join the operations team to bridge the information gap for the commercial side. I would say it is still one of the ongoing impactful projects I am working on.
Q: What are your personal or professional goals for the future? Hong Yang: As a Year 1 university student, I feel that it is premature to determine my ultimate career goal. I would still like to explore my options. Currently, I’m interested in the VC space and companies that focus on ESG. I also want to learn as much as I can about how a start-up operates as it’s a unique experience where I can dabble in many areas and work with different people.
Q: If you could instantly become an expert in something, what would it be? Hong Yang: I would like to be an expert in understanding people and organisations. Working on the HR aspects of IFT I sometimes feel lost, even after drawing on management modules I feel the limitations of theories and the reality of things.
