A trip to Sarawak, Malaysia for Singapore's Trade & Investment Mission

While our founder, Sean Tan, and Head of Commercial, Marcus Wong, were attending the Insect to Feed the World Conference 2022, our partners were on the other side of the world attending the Singapore Trade and Investment Mission in Sarawak, Malaysia.

This mission happened just before the public announcement of our strategic partnership with DesignFutures Ventures aimed toward sustainable food production and food security in Singapore and Sarawak.

It was an amazing opportunity for us to be part of the Singapore delegation invited by the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore (MTI) and Enterprise Singapore. The delegation of 37 Singaporean businessmen and government officials was led by the Permanent Secretary (Development) of the MTI Lee Chuan Tek to explore business opportunities in Sarawak.

The landscape of Singapore and Sarawak

Similar to Singapore, Sarawak is embarking on its sustainability agenda towards addressing concerns related to biodiversity conservation and natural resources management, as well as climate change mitigation and adaptation. This is especially important because Sarawak sustains some of the highest biodiversity and carbon storage in the world. Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said this at the opening of the inaugural Malaysian Conservation Conference in March 2022. He further added that this is concurrently being done with the creation of an enabling environment with modern infrastructure in tandem with the country's Industry 4.0.
